Lyndon Johnson was kind and gentle. It was Hannibal, his Buick, who twisted arms so effectively. Unfortunately, Hannibal got poor Lyndon mired in Vietnam. When he left the White House, Johnson offered the car to Dick Nixon for a good price. Had Nixon bought Hannibal, Vietnam would be a state, the Post would be another crummy daily, and Nixon would still be President. |
